As part of the NextGen Department at River Valley Church, and specifically the Kids team at Shakopee, the Associate Kids Pastor will be responsible for all things pertaining to the Go Port/Elementary (6 years - 5th grade) room, GoLive, and Club 45 elements of Kid’s services and events.

Hours: This position is part time, and is 24 hours per week.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Kids Associate Pastor is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:

  • Oversee Elementary room during weekend services
    • Act as lead presenter and put together a volunteer preaching team for weekends
      • Make sure whoever is preaching is prepped for that weekend
      • Ensure all materials, props, etc. needed for weekend services are ready and available prior to rehearsal
      • Responsible for the recording and reporting of weekend attendance numbers
      • Connect with your volunteers and families weekly. 2-3 connects a week. 
      • Help own and cultivate generosity in kids for kingdom builders 
    • Ensure that giving/kingdom building is integrated into elementary weekend programs.
    • Oversee set-up/tear down for all Elementary services
    • Oversee Elementary visitor/guest follow-up
  • Oversee Elementary Serve teams:
    • Recruitment of Elementary Serve team Members.
      • Assist with processing of volunteer applications for Elementary ministry
      • Oversee Elementary/Midweek serve teams (recruit, train, equip, etc).
      • Manage onboarding process for all new volunteers/leaders.
      • Own the ongoing scheduling and weekly communication to serve team  members
    • Manage the GoLive groups: Move (worship), Tech (audio/visual), Crew (assistants).
      • Schedule worship, crew, and tech teams using Planning Center.
      • Provide full training for GoLive (on-the-job training, weekly rehearsals, workshops, etc.).
    • Assist Kids Pastor in Serve Team Member appreciation, training, and care.
    • Ensure all leaders and volunteers have necessary resources before services.
  • Oversee Club 45 (4th and 5th grade serving and leadership team).
    • Lead Club 45 administratively.
    • Serve as point-person during weekend services.
  • Midweek services.
    • Assist Kids Pastor with production in midweek services.
    • Oversee set-up/tear-down for all services.
    • Purchase any needed supplies and stage props.
    • Ensure weekly attendance is recorded and reported.
  • Weekend services.
    • Ensure weekly attendance is recorded and reported.
    • Oversee purchase of needed supplies and oversee small group preparation.
    • Oversee set-up/tear-down for all Elementary services.
  • Milestones 
    • Lead Switch class once a year alongside Kids Pastor 
    • Assist Kids Pastor with Water Baptism milestone class 
  • Develop relationship with Global Project/Local Projects for serving opportunities
  • Work directly with Kids Pastor to continually elevate Kids ministry as a whole at Campus.
  • Help support and invest into Kids interns. 
  • Participate in kids team connects, workaways, and house wide events

 

 Kids Team

  • Help champion the vision of Kids, ensuring all best practices, policies, strategies, and initiatives are actively being implemented and utilized
    • Ensure that giving/kingdom building is a primary focus for all kids weekend programs.
  • Ensure safety and security of the Elementary area by adhering to the procedures set out by the Kids department and training all volunteers accordingly.
  • Assist with and participate in kids team connects, workaways, and house wide events
  • Participate in ministry Mondays 
  • Assist with summer Kids camps as needed. This may include registration assistance, being a camp counselor, or other duties as requested.

 

Other Responsibilities

Individual will complete responsibilities in accordance with the church’s policies and applicable procedures as assigned. 

 

As a pastor of River Valley Church, you will be given the authority to perform “sacerdotal functions” according to IRS guidelines and “must be able to perform substantially all the religious functions of an ordained minister to be treated as a minister for social security purposes.” It is expected that you will fulfill your pastoral duties as needed to uphold the requirements put in place by the IRS

Qualifications

  • Ability to think creatively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with ProPresenter and Microsoft Office Suite a plus

 

Education

Any combination of education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described with an emphasis on continual learning.

 

Experience

Successful candidate should have at least 1-2 years related experience.
