JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time position. The Transporter must have reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and obtain a “F” endorsement on his/her drivers license. This endorsement allows for the transporting supported persons in his/her vehicle and the driving of Orange Grove vehicles. The Supervisor must be available to work the scheduled hours of their assigned route and must keep all orientation and training current. This training includes CPR, First Aid, annual refresher training, client individual training (SITs), defensive driving, etc. This person must work independently of supervision and maintain positive relationships with Orange Grove personnel, City of Chattanooga personnel, and general citizens. The primary duty is transporting employed individuals to and from their assigned work sites. This person will learn all aspects of community-based recycling and may be called upon to sub within the department in all capacities. This could involve being available to work various scheduled hours at various work sites. Additionally, the Transporter will rotate on-call weekend duty. This position must assist in developing positive relationships and provide a source of awareness to the community on the productive and positive qualities of people with disabilities. The Supervisor must also complete the necessary paperwork, progress notes, transportation logs and reports that pertain to the requirements of the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, the City of Chattanooga, and Orange Grove Center.
