The Chief of Staff (COS) will serve as a thought partner, integrator, and operational lead supporting the President/CEO in the execution of the organization’s operating plan. This role is ideal for a highly organized and mission-driven leader who excellently balances big-picture strategy with day-to-day execution. This role reports directly to the President & CEO and maintains a dotted-line relationship to the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer. The Chief of Staff operates as a strategic partner and peer to the organization’s Vice Presidents, collaborating across departments to align priorities and drive execution with the support of the Executive Administrator. The COS will ensure that key work efforts are set up for success by facilitating cross-functional coordination, managing information flow to executive leadership, tracking progress and outcomes, and helping to advance key stakeholder engagement and community partnership activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Initiative Coordination and Strategic Alignment
- Serve as a strategic partner to the President & CEO, playing a critical role in aligning executive priorities with organizational execution.
- Lead or assist with high-priority projects or pilots on behalf of the President & CEO, particularly those requiring cross-functional integration and problem-solving.
- Establish a strong relationship with the President & CEO—building trust, understanding what matters most, and providing thoughtful support that enhances leadership effectiveness and organizational impact.
- Partner with key organizational leaders to align project goals, resources, and timelines with organizational strategy.
- Strong relationship builder who can navigate complexity, collaborate across a diverse set of external stakeholders and internal departments, and support early-stage initiatives that require agility and coordination.
Operational and Administrative Support
- Oversee key internal workflows related to special projects, meeting cadences, and reporting mechanisms to ensure timely decision-making and issue resolution.
- Facilitate preparation of materials for executive briefings, stakeholder meetings, and board-level communications.
- Work proactively and be highly responsive with the ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Ability to exercise excellent judgment, strategic insight, and an ability to connect the dots across teams and priorities.
- Collaborate with the Executive Administrator.
Performance Tracking and Project Oversight
- Implement systems for tracking initiative outcomes, KPIs, and progress-to-goals across the portfolio of key work efforts.
- Support Directors in mitigating project risks, addressing bottlenecks, and escalating issues when necessary.
Executive Support and Communication
- Act as a liaison between Directors, President & CEO, and Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, synthesizing updates, surfacing critical information, and supporting executive decision-making.
- Coordinate internal communications related to emerging initiatives to foster transparency and alignment.
- Speak and act on behalf of the President & CEO to the board of directors and in meetings, communications, or decision-making processes, as delegated, ensuring continuity and alignment across executive functions.
Stakeholder and Investor Engagement
- Assist in preparing compelling presentations, talking points, and reports for current and prospective investors.
- Support the planning and execution of investor tables and community engagement meetings.
