Role:
The Assistant Site Director / Education Coordinator supports the Site Director in managing daily operations while leading curriculum implementation and instructional quality across the center. This role balances administrative and compliance responsibilities with coaching and mentoring educators to ensure excellence in teaching and learning. Acting as the second-in-command for the site, the Assistant Site Director / Education Coordinator ensures smooth day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, and strong family and community engagement.

 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Operations

  • Serve as second designee for the Site Director, assuming responsibility for daily operations as needed.

  • Support supervision, coaching, and mentorship of teaching and support staff to foster professional growth and high-quality instruction.

  • Assist with scheduling, staffing coverage, and operational needs, including CACFP compliance, attendance, and supply management.

  • Ensure adherence to ITAV policies, IL DCFS Licensing Standards, Head Start Standards, and NAEYC criteria.

Curriculum & Instructional Support

  • Collaborate with educators and administrators to design and refine curriculum aligned with learning objectives, standards, and best practices.

  • Coordinate and support professional development, workshops, and training sessions for teaching staff.

  • Monitor classrooms to ensure developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and inclusive practices.

  • Stay informed on early childhood education research and best practices to support continuous improvement.

Program Evaluation & Improvement

  • Analyze child outcomes, program data, and family feedback to inform instructional and programmatic improvements.

  • Support documentation, reporting, and record-keeping required for compliance and quality assurance.

  • Promote continuous quality improvement in teaching, learning, and family engagement.

Family & Community Engagement

 

  • Act as a point of contact for families regarding program and classroom matters.

  • Foster relationships with parents through communication, meetings, and family engagement events.

  • Build a welcoming, inclusive environment for families, staff, and community partners.

Salary: $55,825 - $68.959

Qualifications

Required Education & Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Current Level I Director’s Credential required.

  • Minimum 2 years of early childhood education experience, including leadership, supervisory, or program coordination responsibilities.

  • Knowledge of IL DCFS Licensing Standards, Head Start Performance Standards, and NAEYC Accreditation preferred.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
