SUMMARY

HRCA is looking for positive, enthusiastic Youth Volunteer Coaches to help guide and inspire young athletes!

As a Youth Sports Volunteer Coach, you’ll support skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a fun, encouraging environment for kids 1st-8th grade.

 

VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION

  • Lead or assist with practices and games for youth sports teams in basketball, soccer, or volleyball.
  • Teach basic skills, rules, and strategies appropriate to the age group
  • Encourage participation, effort, and positive attitudes
  • Serve as a role model, promoting respect, teamwork, and equal playing time
  • Communicate with players, parents, and league organizers as needed
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants

VOLUNTEERING ENVIRONMENT
HRCA Youth Sports leagues take place indoors at one of the four Highlands Ranch recreation centers, practicing and competing on either a turf field or a basketball court based on the specific league.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older (high school students under the age of 18 may be an assistant coach with an adult who is 18 or older)
  • All coaches must pass a background check
  • Ability to communicate clearly with youth, parents, officials, and league staff
  • Be able to serve as a role model by demonstrating good sportsmanship, patience, and encouragement
  • Ability to encourage participation, build confidence, and foster a fun, inclusive environment in a recreation setting.
  • Ability to abide by the HRCA Volunteer Coach Code of Conduct

DAYS & TIMES

All youth leagues include one evening practice each week at one of the four HRCA rec centers for one hour between 4pm and 9pm, followed by game(s) on Saturdays. Practice times and dates are scheduled around volunteer coach availability.
