Description

SUMMARY

Keep the adventure going at Camp Backcountry! As a Camp Backcountry Attendant, you'll support daily operations by delivering water and supplies, prepping activities, directing parking, and assisting staff—helping create a seamless and fun outdoor experience for campers. These activities may be combined with the Base Camp Attendant activities to obtain more volunteer hours.
 

LOCATION

The Backcountry Wilderness Area is an 8,200-acre conservation property that serves as habitat for diverse species and close-to-home access to nature for our community. Surrounded by development, this protected space offers a rare refuge for wildlife and an opportunity for the community to connect with nature.

This individual will be based out of Base Camp, the heart of Camp Backcountry. As the starting point for most programs, Base Camp is a hub for outdoor education, adventure, and conservation efforts.

This volunteer will need to be comfortable volunteering outdoors in changing weather conditions and completing physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and setting up camp materials. Camp Backcountry Attendants must be adaptable, proactive, and ready to support camp operations as needed.
 

DAYS AND TIMES

The shifts for this position are on the following days and times (May-August):

Monday-Friday 7:30AM-10:30AM

We’re flexible and committed to ensuring you have the support and training you need to succeed. We ask for one shift per week but will work with you to create a schedule that meets your needs. We want to make sure you’re able to stay with us long-term and contribute meaningfully to our team and mission, while also making the experience worthwhile for you.
 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fill and deliver water to designated camp areas to keep campers hydrated.
  • Assist with parking logistics to ensure safe and efficient drop-off and pick-up.
  • Help prep camp activities by organizing materials and setting up stations.
  • Sort and distribute camp t-shirts and other supplies as needed.
  • Provide general support to camp staff, including tidying workspaces, replenishing supplies, and assisting with program needs.
  • Ensure safety standards are met and report any issues to camp staff.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and carry water containers and camp materials.
  • Comfortable performing tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow directions and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Enthusiasm for outdoor education and working with youth.
