Head Coach, Masters
Green Lake Small Craft Center is seeking applicants for a Masters Competitive Head Coach beginning in June. The Green Lake Masters Team has grown in size and competitiveness over the past several years, and we see new opportunities to grow this program in our new facility which opened in 2024. Green Lake Small Craft Center is a joint partnership between Seattle Parks Department, Associated Recreation Council, and the Boating Advisory Council.

Start Date: Beginning of June 2025
Work Week Schedule:
- Practice schedule is year-round, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 5:30 am, plus additional planning time, weekend competition, seasonal staff trainings, and staff meetings. The competitive adult team typically rows on the water February through early November, and trains on land from mid-November through January.
- Other coaching opportunities at Green Lake may be available.
Pay rate: $26.10-32.76 Hourly; DOE. This is a part-time, seasonal position.
Masters Head Coach Responsibilities
- Plan and implement training and practice plans with a focus on safety
- Prepare team for competition
- Work collaboratively within a team of coaches to ensure all participants have opportunities for success
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with Associate Recreation Council and Seattle Parks and Recreation guidelines
- May work with an assistant coach depending on squad size
- Act in an advisory capacity to evaluate future equipment needs
- Help develop ideas for future growth of the program with an emphasis on outreach to underserved communities
Masters Head Coach - Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- Proof of ability to work in the U.S.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- At least 5 years of experience in competitive rowing, coaching experience is highly preferred
- Candidates need to be USRowing Level 2 certified within six months of hire
- CPR & First Aid training is required within one month of hire
- Washington Boaters Education certification prior to start of season
- Candidates must be able to pass a 10-minute float test prior to date of hire
- Candidate must be able to commit to a full year
- Trailer driving and rigging experience are preferred
