CLASSIFICATION: Regular full-time, exempt

Job description

Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Teen Engagement Director oversees the Mandel JCC of Palm Beach Gardens and Boynton Beach Teen Department. The Teen Engagement Director at the Mandel JCC provides visionary leadership for all teen initiatives (grades 6–12), overseeing a dynamic team and a diverse portfolio of programs including field trips, in-house events, camp days, and large-scale experiences. This role is actively involved in the planning and execution of teen programming for our summer camp, ensuring meaningful and engaging experiences throughout the summer. The Director also serves as the BBYO City Director, supporting four active chapters, and cultivates key partnerships with local and national organizations, including those offering international teen travel. The Director plays a hands-on role in engaging teens, developing leadership opportunities, and ensuring programs reflect the mission and values of the JCC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all teen programming (grades 6–12), including in-house programs, field trips, camp days, and special initiatives.

 

  • Supervise and support a team of teen professionals, ensuring high-quality program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

 

  • Serve as the City Director for BBYO, overseeing four active chapters and cultivating meaningful relationships with teen leaders and chapter advisors.

 

  • Work collaboratively with the BBYO Gold Coast Region’s team in recruitment and retention efforts.

 

  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with local and national organizations to expand opportunities for Jewish teen engagement, including international travel experiences.

 

  • Lead the planning and execution of large-scale teen events, including community service initiatives, overnight trips, and community-wide celebrations.

 

  • Foster direct, positive relationships with teens to encourage participation, leadership development, and Jewish identity-building.

 

  • Collaborate with internal departments and community partners to align teen initiatives with the JCC’s mission and values.

 

  • Ensure compliance with safety, budgetary, and operational procedures across all teen programs and events.

 

  • Oversee and manage departmental budgets, ensuring responsible financial planning, reporting, and resource allocation.

 

  • Represent the teen department in community and organizational meetings, advocating for the needs and interests of Jewish teens.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years’ working within program development and working with teens 6th-12th grade.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and sensitivity and comfort in engaging with all ages of people.
  • Passionate about Judaism and Jewish communal life.
  • Energized by kids.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize demands.
  • Flexible, able to meet changing work needs and demands.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development activities to enhance skills and keep current on new developments in the field.
  • Must be able to work independently and follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Must work the days and hours to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks and be punctual and timely in meeting all performance requirements, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with entire agency staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere, and maintain courteous and professional working relationships with members, vendors, and outside contacts of agency.
  • Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures, including agency safety requirements.
  • Position requires frequent travel in the local area. Must have reliable transportation and a valid Florida Driver License.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to exert moderate physical efforts which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weights (up to 50lbs), bending, stooping, stretching, squatting and sitting;
  • Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules as needed.
