Summary / Objective
The Director of Facilities is a key member of the Peace Village leadership team responsible for ensuring the seamless operation, safety, and appearance of our community. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on management to provide exceptional customer experience for residents, families, and guests. Through proactive planning, team leadership, and a strong focus on service culture, the Director ensures that all facilities, operations, and services reflect Peace Village’s mission of creating a safe, welcoming, and high-quality environment.

- Customer Experience & Culture of Service- Promote a culture of exceptional service by ensuring resident needs are prioritized in all operational decisions. Build strong relationships with residents, families, and visitors through open communication, responsiveness, and professionalism.
- Department Oversight & Leadership-Direct the Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Reception Departments, including the Community Attendant team. Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate staff while fostering a team environment that emphasizes accountability, respect, and collaboration.
- Facilities & Safety Management-Ensure compliance of all physical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and fire protection. Oversee facility security, including brass keys, FOB management, and building entry systems. Maintain a clean, hazard-free environment throughout the community.
- Regulatory & Compliance Oversight- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including IDPH, Fire Department, State Elevator Inspections, OSHA, ADA, and environmental standards. Maintain records and documentation required for inspections, audits, and licensing.
- Budget & Financial Management- Develop and manage departmental budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure cost-effective use of resources. Oversee vendor contracts, service agreements, and purchasing activities to ensure high-quality services within budget.
- Project & Property Management- Manage unit turnovers, renovations, and capital projects for Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. Provide property management for Peace Properties, including common area maintenance and building service agreements (excluding leasing services). Oversee new construction, remodels, and large-scale facility improvements from planning through completion.
- Operational Excellence- Develop and implement preventative maintenance and emergency preparedness programs. Establish and monitor operational policies, procedures, and service standards. Ensure daily operations run smoothly to support resident satisfaction and organizational success.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in facilities, operations, or property management, including at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
- Working knowledge of commercial building systems and preventative maintenance programs.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in healthcare, residential, or commercial environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and technology platforms used in operations/facility management.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position directly supervises the Maintenance Supervisor, Housekeeping Supervisor, and Reception/Community Attendant Supervisor.
Work Environment
This role operates in a professional office environment and frequently within facility, grounds, and construction project settings.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, or hear. Â Additionally, the employee will frequently be required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms bend, squat, crawl and kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 35 pounds. Â

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exempt position. Evening and weekend work may be required to meet the needs of the community.
Travel
