Preference given to candidates residing locally to Aveva Miramar due to immediate onsite needs.

Job Summary: 

  • The incumbent is responsible for the receipt, handling, dispensing, and destruction of controlled substances and listed chemicals to support Quality Control activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all movement of control substances and DEA listed chemicals for the Quality Control department. 
  • Accountable for Controlled Substance sample transfers.
  • Maintains files to assure complete and accurate accountability for receipt and distribution of controlled substances.
  • Ensures controlled substance and listed chemical documentation complies with federal /state regulatory requirements and is maintained in an inspection-ready state.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of the QC laboratory reference standards (controlled and non-controlled). 
  • Maintain the inventory of DEA listed chemicals.  
  • Responsible for the annual controlled substance inventory records.
  • Responsible for submission and receipt of DEA controlled and non controlled samples to and from contract lab.
  • Maintains laboratory controlled substance areas audit ready.
  • Provides support with internal and external DEA audits to ensure that established procedures are being followed and required documentation to filed with state and federal regulatory authorities.
  • Performing routine calculations such as determining concentration or the amount of a substance in a total sample based on a known portion of narcotic and controlled drug. 
  • Performs inventory and prepares samples for destruction in accordance with DEA regulations.
  • Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School education or equivalence / Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience

  • College education, previous DEA related experience, and pharmaceutical / laboratory environment experience are desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and/or database packages with experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • FDA, cGMPs, and SOPs related to job requirements
