Description

The Junior Systems Administrator is an entry-level IT position responsible for supporting all Academy data, voice, video, and security endpoints including LAN/WLAN equipment, computers, and other endpoints. Working closely with the IT Support Specialist team, the Junior Systems Administrator will provide direct support to end users face-to-face or remotely, often leveraging a deep understanding of endpoint operating systems and networked support and delivery systems. Also, working closely with the Academy IT Network Administrator, the Junior Systems Administrator helps design and implement mechanisms and efficiencies to deliver positive and resilient user experiences.

The Junior Systems Administrator is an adaptable and versatile technology generalist with strong problem-solving skills, an aptitude for learning new technologies, and a comfortable and pleasant demeanor.

This position does not have a remote work option.

Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to end-users regarding the operation of software and technology equipment including but not limited to computers and computer software, peripherals, data network, communications and A/V systems
  • Assist with system provisioning and deployment, classroom technologies, audio-visual solutions
  • Administer and support Windows endpoint devices and iPad student devices by leveraging RMM tools and MDM platforms
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of IT infrastructure components and services
      • Assist in managing network switching and wireless access points
      • Assist in managing server and cloud service infrastructure
  • Identify needs; Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems, including capital planning
  • Attend workshops and training sessions related to networked systems, software, hardware troubleshooting, and other technologies in use across the Academy
  • Contribute to various IT projects as necessary
  • Perform all other duties and assignments, as directed by the Director of Technology & Operations

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, related field or comparable experience
  • Strong communication skills; ability to communicate with other employees in a positive manner
  • Proficiency in networking concepts, directory services, and hosted services
  • Basic understanding of virtualization technologies
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to drive to all school facilities using own vehicle

 

Compensation

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Excellent health and retirement benefits are part of the employment package. Lunch is included when school is in session. Funding exists to support continuing education and professional development.
