CHIEF IMPACT OFFICER

Position Summary

The Chief Impact Officer is a senior executive responsible for strategic leadership, management of a high-performing team and implementation of all site-based student services – including integrated students supports (ISS) and after-school programs. Supervises Site Services, Student Investment & Community Engagement and Quality & Evaluation directors and site staff, ensures alignment with school needs, and drives student outcomes in academics, attendance, behavior, and well-being. Key oversight duties include: program design, implementation, quality improvement, grants and budget management, staff training, compliance, external partnerships and student/family advocacy.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Directs and implements a comprehensive program strategy to meet CIS impact goals while ensuring alignment with CIS’ mission and fidelity to organizational quality models – including, the Integrated Student Supports (ISS) model and the Weikart Youth Program Quality Model.
  • Provide modeling and coaching of best practices in team leadership, quality program delivery, programmatic compliance, and program evaluation.
  • Represent CIS in the community and uphold its mission, vision, and values.

Management

  • Oversee Site Services, Student Investment & Community Engagement and Quality & Evaluation and site staff; ensure effective hiring, training, supervision, and accountability.
  • Maintain compliance with CIS policies, Michigan Child Care Licensing, 21st Century Community Learning Centers grants, and other funder requirements.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Model effective communication internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with CIS leadership, school district leadership and external partners to deliver effective school-day and after-school strategies.
  • Oversee contracts and partnerships, ensuring compliance and problem-solving.

Continuous Learning & Improvement

  • Use data systems to track services, evaluate outcomes, and drive quality improvement.
  • Stay current with and promote youth development service delivery best practices.

Financial Management

  • Develop and monitor program budgets, reporting, and compliance.
  • Partner with Finance and Administration to oversee contracts and funder requirements.

Advocacy

  • Promote equity by breaking down barriers to student success with strategies to address student academic, attendance, behavioral, and physical well-being.
  • Champion CIS mission with staff, board, volunteers, schools, and partners.

Service & Integrity

  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical judgment.
  • Build a supportive work environment with a positive, collaborative attitude.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or non-profit management, human services, education, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience: 7+ years proven success in leadership and management of high performing teams in organizations that serve youth and families; C-suite or senior management level experience preferred.
  • Skills: Leadership, staff supervision, program design, grants management, financial oversight, partnership building, communication, and technology proficiency.
  • Other: Valid driver’s license, vehicle, insurance, flexible hours, ability to pass background and driving checks.

Working Environment & Physical Demands

  • Environment: Well-lit office environment with temperature control; in proximity to others; can be noisy.
  • Physical Demands: Requires the ability to sit for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day) with occasional standing or walking for short breaks; minimal walking within the office (e.g. to printers or meeting rooms or first floor workspace) and moderate walking at other locations; occasionally lift or carry items for obtaining, transporting and storing supplies, materials or equipment weighing up to 15 lbs.; adequate vision for reading computer screens and documents; the ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds for phone conversations or virtual meetings; ability to drive between locations.
