Description

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Director, Quality and Infection Control is responsible for establishing and implementing strategies and tactics that will develop and continually enhance the Memorial Health System quality and infection prevention programs.  This position is accountable for developing and maintaining an effective quality programs taking into consideration the strategic goals; mission and vision with input from Senior Leadership and others as well as connecting physicians and building relationships throughout the region that will be beneficial to the health system. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

 

Job Functions:

  1. Ensures effective service through cooperation, coordination and communication with Administration, physicians, other system departments and hospital departments, community and other third parties both directly and indirectly.
  2. Provides coordination, support, and assurance that the departmental objectives and goals assist the organization and system in achieving the strategic goals, mission, and vision.
  3. Responsible for the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement program and processes which includes patient safety, customer service, reporting errors, public reporting, infection control and prevention,etc. for the Memorial Health System (MMH; Selby; Clinics).
  4. Stays current on all required and pending reportable metrics, educates the organization and takes proactive steps to ensure successful performance.
  5. Oversees the submission of Quality data to appropriate accreditation bodies; Medicare/Medicaid and other 3rd payors.
  6. Serves as an internal consultant for physicians and leaders in identifying and educating on best practices and assisting with implementation and maintenance of them.
  7. Collaborates with the VP of Physician Services and other system leaders to develop standard processes to enhance quality and safety of care.
  8. Maintains established department and administrative policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection and hazardous materials control.
  9. Has the authority and responsibility to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, direct, or recommend such actions by using independent judgment.
  10. Completes and conducts employee performance evaluations based on direct observation of their employee’s job performance.
  11. Granted authority to perform the supervisory duties and are held accountable for performing such duties.
  12. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or appropriate related field preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree candidates may be considered based on relevancy of experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in managerial role.
  • Adult education experience preferred.
  • Licensed in the State of Ohio and WV as a Registered Nurse.
  • Quality certification preferred.
  • CPHQ preferred.

 

Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
  • Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals, to influence others to perform their jobs effectively and to be responsible for making decisions, and to find solutions for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.

 

Compensation Details:  Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
