WORKING TITLE: Backflow & FOG Coordinator  

 

STARTING PAY RATE: $19.54-$22.69/hour 

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:  

 

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.  

 

Experience: One year of backflow coordination 

 

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS, CERTIFICATES, ETC.  

  • Possession of a current Backflow Certification. 

  • Current and valid State of Florida Driver’s License. 

  • Possession of all certificates and training as required. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (These examples are only representative work samples for this

  • Employee works under the general supervision of the Utilities Director and performs all work and makes day to day decisions required to effectively carry out and maintain the City of Milton’s backflow program and FOG program. 

  • Maintains all required records dealing with the backflow and FOG program in a neat and uniform manner. All required entries must be entered on necessary forms with all data recorded for computer entry. 

  • Organizes and implements the completion of all required tests on the City of Milton’s backflow devices. 

  • Organizes all required inspections on commercial accounts. Follows through on all required notices, failures to comply and maintains all records required for commercial devices and test schedules for all commercial accounts. 

  • Performs spot checks on selected devices that have been reported as passed to ensure proper compliance with the Ordinances. 

  • Witness re-tests to ensure proper repairs are made. 

  • Assures that all State and Federal laws are complied with. 

  • The Backflow/FOG Coordinator may also be required to install, test and maintain all City owned backflows. 

  • Performs Oil Water Separator and Grease Trap inspections. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Experience with Navaline or related system 

  • Knowledgeable of DEP Requirements and Cross Connection Control Program requirements.  

  • Thorough knowledge of pertinent methods, materials, supplies, tools and practices. 

  • Considerable knowledge of safety standards and practices. 

  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. 

  • Ability to prepare and maintain records. 

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
