FACILITIES MUNICIPAL SERVICE WORKER II

 

 

WORKING TITLE: Facilities Municipal Service Worker II

HOURS OF WORK, SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES, AND ACCOUNTABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Street/Facilities Department field operation hours as required. Monday through Friday, subject to weekend duty and emergency call out as needed.
  • Employee reports directly to Municipal Service Worker IV/Team Lead and/or

The Street/Sanitation Department Supervisor

 

  • Work is routine and is periodically spot checked by Municipal Service Worker IV/Team Lead.

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

An employee in this job under general supervision performs a variety of duties, which may include collecting litter and the performance of laboring duties in the light construction, maintenance, and repair areas. Assignments are outlined and work is routine. Work is spot checked for successful completion.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  These examples are only representative samples for this job and do not include all duties or special work assignments that may be required of this job.

 

  • Performs minor maintenance work for facilities/streets, cleaning exterior of buildings, repair
  • Operates pickup trucks, flatbed trucks, asphalt roller/packer, concrete/asphalt cutting saw.
  • potholes, cleans and repairs/replaces street signs.
  • Operates basic hand tools and equipment.
  • Picks up paper and debris and performs other grounds keeping duties.
  • Assists in the maintenance of recreational facilities    
  • Operates chain saws and other minor equipment.
  • May operate the City street sweeper with proper training.
  • Completes daily work orders and logs as required for Street sweeping operations.
  • Clean out debris from stormwater street drains

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Education:        High School Diploma or GED. Ability to read and write to carry out required job assignments and training.

Experience:      Two (2) years experience in maintenance, construction or public works.     

 

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS, CERTIFICATES, ETC.:

  • Current and valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Some knowledge of the methods, tools and materials used in street/construction maintenance and repair work.
  • Some knowledge of pertinent safety standards and practices followed in construction, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform safely all phases of routine, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Ability to keep simple records.
  • Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with the public.
  • Skill in routine care and use of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to operate and maintain commercial lawn equipment.
  • Ability to withstand working outdoors under variable weather conditions and risks.
  • Ability to work at heights on occasion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell, hear and drive.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch and crawl.  Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision and depth perception.  The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 60 pounds. Additionally, the employee is required to stand on feet for a long duration of time and to work standing on step ladders and extension ladders for extended lengths of time. The employee should be also be able to lift 60 lbs. Minimum weight, waste high and sustain for (2) minutes.
