The intern will research and document the food system on the Upper Shore including addressing topics such as food recovery, food production, food distribution, and food security. The intern will also support communication activities for the Upper Shore Farm and Food Network, Innovation Plant, and overall Sustainable Food Systems program.
Responsibilities:
- Research and document current community activities in food recovery, food production, food distribution, and resolving access to food for under-served communities. Research should be guided by the objectives of the Upper Shore Farm and Food Network.
- Support the development of a website and outreach materials for the Upper Shore Farm and Food Network.
- Attend meetings with external partners in-person (off campus and virtual).
- Use geographic information systems software to research and document food security in Maryland.
- Participate in planning for a new business incubator kitchen at the college’s upcoming Innovation Plant.
- Assist the Sustainable Food Systems team as needed with farm activities and research.
- As requested, assist the CES staff at Semans-Griswold Environmental Hall to welcome visiting prospective students and parents.
