Description

Washington College faculty, staff, and students have been working with local schools to develop appropriate grade-level lessons that align with current national and state educational standards. This includes classroom kits and lesson plans that focus on the expertise and resources of the Watershed Innovation Lab. The lesson plans are now in the design and feedback phase and this internship will focus on graphic design as well support in the use and review of the classroom kits and lessons.

Activities: 

  • Utilize Adobe Creative Suite to create user-friendly teacher lesson plans and student resources using a pre-existing template and style guide. 
  • Provide support for partner and teacher feedback interactions and meetings. 
  • Provide support for distribution of classroom kits. 
  • As requested, assist with the delivery of lessons or activities in the field or in classroom.
  • As requested, assist the CES staff at Semans-Griswold Environmental Hall to welcome visiting prospective students and parents.

Qualifications

  • Experience with graphic design, especially Adobe Creative Suite and Canva highly recommended.
  • Experience with K-12 education, environmental education, or environmental science perferred.
  • Work independently and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task. 
  • Effective communication skills.  

Additional Info

  • Intern will be paid $15/hour for approximately 10 hours/week.
  • This internship is hosted by the Center for Environment and Society.
  • This internship will be hybrid. Work will be conducted virtually, and/or in-person at Semans-Griswold Environmental Hall.
