WORK LOCATION: Hybrid, Must be Massachusetts-Based

                                  (travel may be required for meetings, training, role/tasks, events within the New England states)

As part of a purposeful team at ASG, an integrated marketing agency that powers progress for corporations, nonprofits, government agencies, and the communities they serve, the Interim Associate Director of Communications & Media will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the agency's marketing efforts. The Associate Director will be responsible for managing and developing a talented Communications & Media team, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring exceptional execution of marketing campaigns that align with ASG's mission and values. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in leading communications & media teams, preferably within an agency setting, and possess a deep understanding of all facets of marketing including public relations. This individual will provide innovative solutions, foster team collaboration, and deliver measurable results that advance ASG's goals and client success.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Communications & Media Team through innovation, collaboration, and creativity; develop and implement department policies, procedures, and key offerings.
  • Lead the development of internal tools, including industry metrics database, project and task trackers, and department guides.
  • Build branding, and integrated communications & media knowledge and education regularly through workshops, research, and seminars, and share best practices and local communications & media tactics with team members
  • Hire, train, and develop the Communications & Media Team, continuously mentoring and coaching team members to meet their career growth plans.
  • Identify new avenues for communications & media and growth opportunities in projects and services, meeting department KPIs on monthly, quarterly, and/or yearly basis
  • Design and implement integrated media buys for both ASG and clients; use analytical tools to test, measure, and modify campaigns as needed
  • Develop and execute PR strategies, including media relations, reputation management, and crisis communications
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of client needs and take action to ensure clients are satisfied and retained, with a 90% or above client satisfaction rate
  • Ensure complete and timely management of individual project timelines, budgets and expenses, staying within agreed upon parameters
  • Analyze campaigns and compile reports for clients that include clear recommendations and plans for revising communications & media strategies
  • Oversee creation and development of content for integrated marketing projects, with a focus on assets intended for digital and online streaming platforms (images, videos, blogs, audio, etc.); develop and coordinate production schedules and maintain ongoing relationships with graphic designers, mail houses, printers, photographers, and videographers
  • Ensure all ASG and client media interactions foster a positive brand experience and sentiment.
  • Oversee collaboration with Creative Services team to ensure message consistency in tone, voice, and character across media platforms (social media, websites, ads, etc.)
  • Recommend strategic input to website building, development and optimization by supporting web development and design teams; providing guidance on communications & media-related aspects of ASG and client’s web presence
  • Perform additional projects, initiatives, duties, responsibilities for any area throughout ASG while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability, for the overall success of the organization as directed by the Director of Client Services Delivery and/or their designee(s).    

 

Qualifications

YOUR MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution; MBA or advanced specialty degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience as an employee in integrated marketing, business operations, and managing deliverables for organizations with $15M+ operating budgets. Experience with national-level campaigns and public relations is a significant advantage.
  • 5+ years of experience developing departmental KPIs and metrics, with a proven track record of achieving goals.
  • 5+ years of direct personnel management, including performance evaluations, training, and coaching teams of 3 to 5 FTEs.
  • 5+ years of overseeing client and customer portfolios valued between $1M to $3M in sales.
  • 7+ years of advertising or marketing agency experience with a focus on mission-driven, community-focused outcomes, preferably in urban settings. Bilingual in English and Spanish/Portuguese is a plus.
  • Strong team management skills, including empathy, patience, advocacy, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to balance organizational goals—budgeting, revenue modeling, and sustainable financial management—while supporting staff development.
  • Strong experience integrating PR with digital media, community engagement, and campaign strategies
  • Advanced knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and ROI management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, Google Analytics, and database management applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences.
  • Ability to bridge creative marketing with data-driven analysis, demonstrating the analytical soundness of strategies.
  • Strategic management expertise, with the confidence to lead internally and externally, guiding clients, customers, employees, and consultants as needed.
