What you’ll do:
- Work with the Manager to support the Community Cat Program (CCP) and process patients in accordance with policy. Proactively identify and make recommendations on opportunities to improve the CCP and use resources effectively and provide backup coverage for Manager as needed.
- Ensure a high-quality experience for every client through exceptional service, including de-escalating guest concerns. Respond promptly and appropriately to all CCP-related inquiries including those on the call-back log and in the CCP inbox.
- Support trap, neuter, return (TNR) efforts by assisting with the coordination of trapping, caring, and returning community cats, including participating directly in TNR. Transport community cats that are cleared for return to their found locations (RTF) and recruits and coordinates volunteers to do the same.
- Safely and properly handle and transport community cats in traps and carriers with fear free techniques. Assist with providing basic animal husbandry (provide food, water, sanitation) to cats admitted to CCP as needed.
- Assist with data tracking, inventory management, and administrative support for CCP. Responsible for CCP vehicle management, including ensuring the vehicle is always clean, equipped with the collateral and items needed, monitoring and filling gas as needed, and working with Support Services to ensure vehicle registration and maintenance is current.
- Maintain the CCP spay/neuter schedule at the San Diego Campus.
What we’re looking for:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience in animal welfare and working directly with the public, or any equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Experience trapping cats as part of a Trap-Neuter-Return program required.
- Prior experience working with cats in a shelter, animal hospital, high-volume spay/neuter clinic or other similar environment preferred.
- Experience in customer services/guest relations or with formal community organizing training preferred.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be approved by SDHS insurance carrier to drive a company or personal vehicle for work purposes.
Location & Hours: Based at our San Diego Campus. This position works 40 hours per week and involves frequent travel within San Diego County.
Pay: Starting range is between $22.00 – $24.48 per hour and is eligible for an hourly bilingual-Spanish premium.
The listed hiring range for this position depicts the target range of pay rates for candidates. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. Compensation for internal candidates may increase beyond the listed range based on performance over time. For all candidates, the actual starting pay rate is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to your years of related education and experience, internal pay equity, and position location.
