Cascade AIDS Project is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-oriented Accounting Manager. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, supervising two staff (Staff Accountant and Accounts Payable Specialist), overseeing compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the organization’s mission through sound fiscal stewardship. This position is a “working manager” role with approximately 60% of their time being transactional in nature and 40% supervising and supporting subordinate staff.
This is a Full-Time role working at our Davis St. location in the Old Town area of Portland OR. The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm with at least three days in office.
The starting salary is $85,000-$95,000 a year depending on experience.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- At least five years of accounting experience; non-profit experience highly desirable.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ethical, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining confidentiality and the highest standards of integrity.
- Experience with grant accounting and federal/state grant compliance.
What You’ll Do
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the organization’s general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and non-profit accounting standards.
- Grant and Fund Accounting: Track restricted and unrestricted funds, ensure proper allocation of revenues and expenses, maintain detailed records for grant compliance, and prepare financial reports and invoices for grantors and donors in accordance with their requirements.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable Management: Oversee processing of invoices and payments, monitor accounts receivable aging, and ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and monitor effective internal controls to safeguard organizational assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with all governmental and funder requirements.
- Staff Supervision and Development: Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate accounting staff and volunteers. Foster a culture of professional growth, collaboration, and accountability within the finance team.
- Collaboration with Program Staff: Partner with program managers to ensure accurate allocation of expenses, alignment of expenditures with grant budgets, and compliance with donor restrictions.
