Summary
Under the supervision of the Community Based Services Supervisor, the Information and Resource (I&R) Specialist provides and assists with registrations, information, linkages, and referrals to individuals and families seeking services pertaining to basic needs, mental health, case management, housing, etc. The Information and Referral Specialist is also responsible for data entry and outreach. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program
    • Support the Community-Based Services Action Plan by meeting program outcomes and grant deliverables. 
    • Respond to walk-ins, call-ins, emails, and referred clients seeking community resources. 
    • Screen and assess clients’ needs and provide appropriate resources and referrals.
    • Facilitate connections between clients and service providers, ensuring seamless referrals and follow-ups.
    • Organize and distribute emergency assistance supplies; receive and sort public donations to the community-based sites   
    • Guide clients with the registration process and forms required for services and resources.
    • Support the development of prevention and education promotional strategies for a variety of outreach and engagement events, such as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, Child Abuse Prevention Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and recognized campaigns.
  • Administrative
    • Performs administrative duties including, but not limited to, answering phones, filing, data entry, record keeping, ordering supplies, and setting up and supporting maintenance of office furniture.
    • Complete and enter all documentation and assessments into Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) to meet grant and agency requirements.  
    • Utilize Outlook Calendar to reflect appointments, work assignments, and other relevant details (location); use Outlook Calendar effectively to reflect busy or free.
  • Community and Partnerships
    • Participate in community outreach initiatives to raise awareness of available resources. 
    • Foster relationships with community stakeholders and encourage collaboration and service improvement. 
    • Collaborate with local organizations to stay informed about new programs and changes in service and/or resources.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or commensurate work experience.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Adaptability and flexibility while working in a dynamic work environment.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse issues.
  • Proficient in database management, referral tracking, and precise documentation.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects efficiently, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Take initiative, multitask under pressure, and work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel and working knowledge of computer database program entry and report generation.
  • Complete the 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate certification training post-hire if not previously obtained.
