Description

Do you love interacting with children from ages 3 to 5? We have an opportunity that may interest you! The successful candidate must enjoy working with children and be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment. This individual will rotate between classrooms to assist the teaching staff.

  • Part-time opening (28 hours per week). Hours are 8AM-3PM 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday - off Wednesday) during school year. If desired, summer hours may be available through HIT, Inc.
  • Pay is $17/hour. If you have a current Child Development Associate credential, the pay is $17.50/hour.

What is involved in the job:
Assist teaching staff in providing a nurturing, safe, consistent learning environment to enhance the skills of every child. Adhere to the cleaning and sanitizing requirements. Create positive, meaningful interaction with the children and flexibility in daily routines. Main focus of this position is interacting with the students in the classroom and to clean the classroom.

  • Engage with children during play. Our belief is that children learn more when adults are active members of their play.
  • Have conversations with children, be at the child’s level by being on the floor or sitting at the table. Be a good role model and build positive relationships with the children.
  • Help children with daily routine (examples: mealtime, getting dressed to go outside, circle time)
  • Follow the direction and lead of the teacher and help where needed; be willing to learn new skills and be flexible.
  • Learn and implement Conscious Discipline. This focuses on a school family that establishes simple, reasonable, and consistent guidelines for children to encourage impulse control and self-regulation.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude with parents, community members and other staff by using assertive communication (clear, direct, respectful) when addressing an issue.
  • Prep before and after meals. Clean classroom at the end of the day.
  • Collaborate professionally and respectfully with Head Start staff to meet the needs of children and families.

Benefits

The Teacher Support position works 28 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8AM to 3PM). Part-time benefits include:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Driver's license is preferred but not required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Effectively speak, read, and understand English.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!
  • Must pass background check and drug testing.
  • Must have a compassionate and positive attitude
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable team player.
