As the first point of contact, the Host is responsible for managing reservations, seating guests efficiently, and ensuring smooth communication between the front-of-house and service teams. This role is key to maintaining the effortless flow and positive energy that define The Standard experience.
The Role
The Host oversees guest greeting, reservations, and seating across all dining outlets. They ensure a seamless flow between arrival and service, balancing guest satisfaction with operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings warmth, attentiveness, and a sharp sense of organization to every shift, helping every guest feel seen, comfortable, and cared for.
What You’ll Be Doing

Welcome guests with warmth and professionalism, setting the tone for their experience.

Manage daily reservations and walk-ins using established systems (e.g., SevenRooms, OpenTable, or Resy).

Maintain an accurate seating chart and communicate table status to servers and management.

Coordinate with the F&B and Guest Experience teams to anticipate special requests and guest preferences.

Handle VIPs, hotel guests, and large parties with discretion and attention to detail.

Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing host stand and entry area.

Ensure menus and collateral are updated, clean, and well-presented.

Communicate wait times and pacing clearly to guests and team members.

Monitor guest flow to optimize seating and maintain a balanced service pace.

Support management by tracking daily cover counts, noting guest feedback, and assisting with special events or programming.

Maintain thorough knowledge of hotel amenities, menus, and ongoing events to provide accurate information to guests.

Assist in resolving guest concerns or complaints promptly and courteously, escalating when necessary.

Participate in pre-service meetings to stay informed on reservations, VIPs, and menu changes.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum 1 year of experience as a Host in a high-volume, upscale, or lifestyle hospitality venue (Miami Beach experience preferred).

Familiarity with reservation systems such as SevenRooms, OpenTable, or Resy.

Strong communication and multitasking skills with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to manage guest flow and seating efficiency under pressure.

Flexible schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with The Standard’s brand.

Working knowledge of POS and reservation systems.

Languages: Fluent English required; Spanish preferred.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift.

Frequent bending, reaching, and light lifting (up to 40 lbs).

Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in variable temperatures.
