Description

The Director of Manufacturing Quality is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive quality system that spans the entire vehicle conversion process, from incoming materials and in-house component manufacturing through final assembly and customer-ready delivery. This role will establish quality checkpoints, lead root cause analysis, and build a sustainable quality culture across all departments. The Director will ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and standardize quality assurance procedures across all stages of manufacturing and vehicle conversion.

· Establish checkpoints, documentation protocols, and inspection standards for fabrication, kitting, electrical, mechanical, and final assembly processes.

· Define and track KPIs to monitor and improve product quality and process performance.

· Conduct internal audits at each stage of production to verify adherence to quality standards and identify opportunities for improvement.

· Serve as the primary quality liaison for regulatory audits and ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal safety standards.

· Inspect for compliance with FMVSS, NHTSA, OEM requirements, and customer-specific expectations.

· Oversee documentation and readiness for external inspections or regulatory reviews.

· Direct incoming inspection of raw materials and sourced components.

· Implement in-process inspections across all production departments.

· Lead the final vehicle quality review process, including comprehensive inspection, road testing, and readiness for customer delivery.

· Lead, train, and develop a team of inspectors and quality personnel.

· Set clear expectations, review performance, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning.

· Partner with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Warranty departments to prevent quality issues and resolve root causes.

· Support design-for-manufacturing and quality initiatives for new or modified vehicle platforms.

Salary & Compensation:

This is a full-time, salaried position with competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications. All salary and compensation packages at FR Conversions are subject to applicable labor laws, FR Conversions standard company policies, and payroll regulations, including taxes and withholdings.

Job Categorization:

This position is a full-time, salaried, FLSA exempt role (SOC Code – 11-3051).

This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive position.

· A Safety Sensitive position at FR Conversions is subject to post-offer and random drug/alcohol screenings.

Qualifications

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.

· Minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including 3–5+ years of progressive experience in quality management, ideally within automotive, vehicle conversion, or low-volume manufacturing settings.

· Proven leadership experience in a production or operations environment, including prior roles such as Line Manager, Manufacturing Manager, or similar, with responsibility for team supervision and operational performance.

· Demonstrated success implementing quality systems and driving process improvements in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, FMVSS, lean manufacturing principles, and standard quality tools (FMEA, CAPA, 8D, root cause analysis).

· Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

 

Screenings Required:

· Pre-Employment Physical, Hearing and Drug Test

· A valid and current driver’s license is required; candidates must provide proof of renewal upon expiration.

· A clean driving record demonstrated through a motor vehicle record (MVR) check will be conducted prior to employment and annually thereafter.
