Position Title: Adjunct Instructor of Spanish
Hours Per Week: 3 to 20 (up to 9 credit hours of class time)

Position Purpose: Cumberland University’s Oakley School for the Humanities, Education and the Arts is seeking applicants demonstrating successful and active professional practice, knowledge of oral and written Spanish, ability to tailor lesson plans to students, course and program planning, and excellence in the creation and teaching of appropriate assignments for Spanish language learners at an undergraduate level. This position will enhance program strength, course offerings, and student opportunities in the school under the supervision of the Dean. Successful candidate will show ability to design and assess curriculum plans that foster rigorous student learning and engagement while enhancing the necessary skills required in adult learners in the field of Spanish.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to communicate well with students and other faculty members
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of concepts in the Spanish language and various cultural aspects
- Be proficient in both oral and written Spanish
- Engage in class and student assessment while maintaining all necessary paperwork and records based on school requirements
- Evidence of high level of personal agency and initiative
- Demonstrate organizational skills for curriculum management and program design including analysis of data for continuous improvement
- Possess ability to contribute positively to a dynamic setting with collaborative faculty
Experience:
- Two or more years teaching experience in Spanish
- Documentation of successful experience as an undergraduate professor or post-secondary teacher and preferable to have leadership experiences and displayed work in the field
- Experience and networking in the Middle Tennessee region preferred but not necessary
Education: Ph.D. preferred by MA accepted
