Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach

(Contracted stipend position)

Washington County Community College (WCCC) is now accepting applications for the position of Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country Coach. This stipend position begins immediately with student-athlete recruitment, with coaching duties starting Fall 2025. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and Campus Engagement. WCCC is a proud member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and offers a competitive fall cross country season.

The Cross-Country program at WCCC competes in its regular season in the fall, which allows for a competitive program. Duties include, but are not limited to, all aspects of coaching and administrating a collegiate cross-country program, including organizing and leading practices, creating training plans, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and preparing the team for local competitions. Strong communication, leadership abilities, and a passion for the sport are essential. The successful recruitment and retention of quality student athletes and assisting with team fundraising initiatives is a must. Attendance at all practices and competitions and transportation of student athletes is required.

Qualifications: Successful candidates should have a background as either a competitor or coach at the collegiate level, experience at the high school level, or an avid runner or trainer. Candidates with the ability to recruit student athletes successfully and to lead in all facets of coaching a collegiate cross-country program will be considered. A valid and clean driving record for the State of Maine is required.

Dates of Employment:  Recruitment: June 1 – August 1 and In-Season Coaching: August 15 – November 15. Compensation: $4,000 stipend (no benefits). No expectation of renewal beyond listed dates.
