RESPONSIBILITIES:
Southern Maine Community College is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor to teach Trauma and Recovery during the Fall 2025 semester. This advanced course explores the psychological, emotional, and behavioral impact of trauma - especially child sexual abuse and PTSD - on individuals and communities. Students examine the effects of trauma on the brain, attachment, relationships, and identity, and learn trauma-informed strategies for recovery and treatment. Topics include vicarious trauma, self-care, and working with special populations.

Online asynchronous via Brightspace. No scheduled class meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Behavioral Health, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field
- At least five years of professional experience working with trauma survivors or in trauma-informed settings

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Expertise in trauma-informed care, PTSD, and crisis response
- Familiarity with Constructivist Self Development Theory and evidence-based trauma treatment models
- College-level teaching experience, especially in online learning environments
