Workforce Student Navigator
Grant-funded position
Washington County Community College is seeking a talented professional with a strong work ethic to fill the position of Workforce Student Navigator. This position is designed to ensure the planning, organization, and administration of workforce student support services. The Navigator will provide proactive advising to help students stay on track, complete their short-term training programs, and transition into pathway programs when desired. This position provides services which include student onboarding assistance, advising, training, program progress review, development and coordination of retention efforts, and connectivity employment opportunities. It also works to integrate and connect students with key wrap-around support on campus and in the community. The student navigator will work with community organizations to provide support services that reduce barriers to success. This is an on-campus, in-person role with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of recent experience in higher education, workforce development, case management, or career development roles. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in student advising, case management, and support services. Must possess excellent interpersonal, group facilitation, problem-solving, and presentation skills, along with strong oral and written communication abilities. A solid understanding of the mission of the Maine Community College System and Washington County Community College, their student populations, and the connection to workforce development is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to work accurately with data are required. Extensive knowledge of community support organizations is preferred.
Salary & Benefits: MEA Administrators Unit, Level 3, salary range $45,914 to $53,228, salary commensurate with credentials and experience.100% employer paid health for employees, dental & life insurance for employees, Maine State or TIAA CREF Retirement, vacation/personal/sick time allowances, professional development, and free tuition within the MCCS.
