TIHP Pharmacy Operations Specialist

Position Summary: 

The Pharmacy Operations Specialist is responsible for providing operational, oversight, and customer service support to the Pharmacy Department and both internal and external teams.

Major Responsibilities:

• Perform auditing and monitoring of tasks delegated to the Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) to ensure compliance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations  
• Participate in the development and execution of initiatives to improve Medicare Stars Part D quality measures 
• Participate in the development and maintenance of new programs required by CMS 
• Provide operational and educational support to internal and external customers related to pharmacy product offerings 
• Assist in implementing programs and process improvements to enhance the level of internal and external customer service provided 
• Recognize and recommend operational improvements 
• Other special projects and tasks as assigned 

License Requirements/Education:

Licenses/Certifications: Current, unrestricted Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) Pharmacy Technician license and/or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

Education: High school diploma or graduate equivalent degree

Experience and Skills Requirements:

• 1+ years of practice experience in Medicare Part D operations
• 1+ years of practice experience with a health plan pharmacy service and/or managed care environment
• Possess a strong regulatory knowledge related to Medicare Part D, including applicable chapters within the CMS Prescription Drug Benefit Manual.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to navigate Windows and web-based applications.
• Organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and/or projects at one time
• Excellent critical thinking capabilities with a strong attention to detail 
• Exceptional customer service skills
