Role Description

 

We're seeking a Technical Support Specialist who will be responsible for collaborating with Engineering Services Engineers, other subject matter experts and AutoCAD team members in the implementation and execution of daily goals and objectives to deliver a high level of service and consultation that aligns with the goals and objectives of the organization.

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Provide direct engineering support for internal and external customers as well as distribution channels to promote sound firestop engineering principles through engineering judgments, phone consultation, letters, and other modes of engineering communication. Maintain departmental requirements for productivity as it relates to the issuance of engineering judgments. 
  • As needed, function as a peer reviewer for engineering judgments in accordance with UL TEDP program requirements. Maintain departmental requirements for productivity as it relates to peer review of engineering judgments. NOTE: Peer reviewing is an important first step in establishing competency by seeing and understanding non-standard firestop applications.
  • Utilize and maintain a thorough knowledge of the products, firestop engineering principles, and construction trends as they relate to the use of firestop products.
  • Assist in developing internal and external product testing requirements in accordance with industry standards and building codes based on emerging trends and customer feedback.
  • Take part in appropriate continuing education such as participating in industry seminars, witnessing fire testing and/or take courses or classes regarding firestopping, codes and/or standards. Must maintain UL TEDP qualification through recertification process every three years.  
  • Participate in on site meetings as necessary throughout the year.
  • Other duties as assigned by department head. 

Qualifications/Experience

What We're Looking For 

  • An associates in Engineering or Engineering Technology (or some sort of technical credentials).
  • Required to pass UL Technical Evaluation Developer Program (TEDP) Examination, administered by UL.
  • Experienced in Auto Cad.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 

Education, Experience & Additional Skills

  • NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) Certification
  • Comfortable presenting to groups in person or over web conferencing.
