American Eagle Paper Mills is seeking an Assistant Controller.
OPEN POSITION: Assistant Controller
SHIFT: Daylight
LOCATION: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone PA 16686
REPORTS TO: Adelman, Clark or Controller
POSITION STATUS: Full Time, Salary, Exempt
Job Description & Duties:
The Assistant Controller will perform month end closing, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations, prepare financial reports and calculation of financial covenants, oversee Accounts Receivable and collection functions, assist with audit preparations, ensure adherence to general accounting practices and procedures, and perform other accounting duties as assigned. This list is not all-inclusive, and additional duties may be assigned based on workload and operational needs.
Responsibilities:
• Follow all mill and department safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment.
• Report any incident or near miss as directed.
• Coordinate accounting functions and programs.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and board presentations.
• Prepare and record journal entries.
• Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
• Oversee Accounts Receivable process and collection functions.
• Track capex projects and maintain fixed asset schedules.
• Maintain a system of accounting records.
• Assist with annual audit preparations.
• Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of noncompliance.
• Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems and procedures.
• Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets.
• Perform other accounting duties and support staff as required.
Qualifications and Competencies:
• Strong financial analysis skills.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational skills and stress management skills.
• Reliable team player with a positive and proactive work ethic.
• A willingness to learn and take initiative.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
• Ability to train and manage staff.
• Ability to work with little to no supervision.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financial management is required.
• At least three (3) years of accounting experience are required.
• Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
Work Environment:
• Work in an office environment.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Requires lifting and carrying up to 30lbs.
