Organization Description: Food For Thought (FFT) is a nonprofit that provides comprehensive nutrition services to people in Sonoma County affected by serious medical conditions. Our services include medically tailored weekly groceries and prepared meals, vitamins and supplements, and nutrition education. We are located in Forestville in a beautiful building surrounded by organic gardens. FFT operates with a staff of 25 and over 700 volunteers. Position Summary: This is a full-time, short-term (+/- 3 months), temporary position that reports to the Director of Nutrition. The dietitian is a member of our two-person nutrition department. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to meet clients where they are without judgment, be open to learning new things, be detail-oriented, and be able to work with and supervise volunteers.

 

Responsibilities

  • Working with clients who require medically tailored nutrition due to serious medical conditions
  • Conducting intakes and providing medical nutrition therapy to new clients
  • Following up with existing clients to ensure their needs are being met and troubleshooting issues as they arise, including monitoring and evaluating MNT goals and plans
  • Providing nutrition education and ongoing coaching to clients in the program
  • Reviewing medical records and providing MNT based on client conditions
  • Working with the Director of Nutrition to plan nutrition coaching and specific menus based on medical needs

Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Eligible - nutritional certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Fluent in English and Spanish - Ability to speak, read, and write with proficiency in both languages preferred
  • Passion for Food For Thought’s Mission
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and familiarity with using databases
  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized
