Required Experience and Skills:
- Clinical experience in general radiography and CT through an accredited radiologic technology program.
- Familiarity with standard imaging procedures, including chest, abdomen, and extremity X-rays and CT scans.
- Basic patient care skills, including positioning, assisting with mobility, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Hands-on experience operating X-ray and CT equipment, including basic troubleshooting.
- Understanding and familiarity of radiation safety practices and ALARA principles for patient and staff safety, including patient shielding and dose optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of human anatomy (including cross-sectional anatomy) and physiology relevant to diagnostic imaging.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, technologists, and healthcare providers.
- Detail-oriented approach to image quality, labeling, positioning, and documentation.
- Basic proficiency with imaging software and hospital information systems (PACS, RIS, EHR).
- Exposure to clinical workflows in hospital or outpatient settings.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Two (2) years of experience in general diagnostic radiography and computed tomography in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Previous experience working in a rural, critical access, or low-volume facility where independent performance of duties was required.
- Demonstrated competency in both trauma and non-emergent imaging workflows.
- Familiarity with Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting CT and X-ray equipment from multiple manufacturers (Care Stream, Toshiba, Quantum, Shimadzu, GE-OEC C- Arm/Fluoroscopy, etc.).
- Intraoperative fluoroscopy experience.
- Basic knowledge of sterile procedures and sterile field maintenance.
- Familiarity with radiation safety best practices, patient shielding, and dose optimization techniques.
- Experience and/or licensure in MRI is advantageous.
Physical Requirement: Extensive walking, standing. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients. Lifting, reaching, hand eye coordination, speaking clear vision, motor skills, dexterity, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently.
Certification, Registration or Licensure:
- ARRT Certification in Radiography (R) required for performing X-ray procedures
- ARRT Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) Required at the time of hire or within one year.
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) Current certification from the American Heart Association (or equivalent) is typically required prior to patient care
