Manager, Community Engagement 

 

 

Department: Community Engagement        

Reports to: Director, Community Engagement 
FLSA Status: Exempt  

Effective Date: July 2025 

 

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Manager, Community Engagement designs and executes engagement strategies that foster meaningful connections, support retention, and enhance value across PCMA’s global member community. This role manages engagement programs in North America that promote year-round involvement across various member segments, including peer-to-peer learning, volunteer initiatives, mentoring, online communities, and live event activations. Working cross-functionally, the Manager ensures a consistent, high-quality member experience and contributes to overall membership growth goals. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Community Engagement Program Management 

  • Develop and manage community programs including Circles (peer-to-peer learning sessions by segment), Mentoring Rings, Focus Groups, Study Tours, and other experiential offerings. 

  • Support regional member meetups through Collectives and collaborate on strategies for grassroots community growth. 

  • Support the planning and delivery of community engagement activations at PCMA events. 

  • Serve as liaison to assigned member segments, ensuring their needs are reflected in engagement strategies. 

Grassroots Network Management 

  • Lead volunteer recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and recognition across assigned programs. 

  • Partner with committees, Chapter leaders, and staff liaisons to ensure a rewarding and consistent volunteer experience. 

  • Liaise with Chapter leaders to provide responsive support, share best practices, and ensure alignment with PCMA priorities. 

  • Train and support Chapters on systems, reporting, and governance to enhance operational effectiveness and member value. 

  • Administer PCMA’s online community forum, promote participation, and contribute to long-term digital engagement strategy. 

Member Experience & Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Provide responsive and professional member support across inbox, phone, chat, Pardot forms, and Salesforce-Fonteva, ensuring accurate issue resolution and a positive experience. 

  • Support member recognition programs through timely tracking, communication, and acknowledgment of member contributions. 

  • Collaborate with internal teams—including marketing, membership, and content—to ensure delivery of consistent member value across channels. 

  • In partnership with the Director, support Membership Task Forces and member acquisition/retention efforts. 

Performance Monitoring & Reporting 

  • Track engagement metrics and prepare reports to evaluate impact, identify trends, and inform strategic adjustments. 

  • Contribute to the achievement of membership retention and growth goals by applying member insights to programming and engagement plans. 

 

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Vice President of Community Engagement. 

  • Represent PCMA in a professional and enthusiastic manner in all member and volunteer interactions. 

  • Serve as staff liaison or support on committees, task forces, or advisory groups. 

  • Support onsite logistics and volunteer/member activities during PCMA events as needed. 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in community engagement, membership, association management or related field. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, hospitality or related field. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to foster relationships across diverse audiences. 

  • Experience managing volunteers, online communities, or peer programs preferred. 

  • Highly organized, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment. 

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and contribute to team goals. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Salesforce-Fonteva and Pardot a plus. 

  • Willingness to travel and occasionally work evenings or weekends during events. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS 

  • Ability to perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time. 

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time in performing the work. 

  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time in performing the work.  

  • Ability to pull or push objects of varying weights in performing the work.  

  • Ability to grasp objects utilizing the fingers (fine motor manipulation). 

  • Ability to travel by air or ground transportation as required in performing the work. 

  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
