District Administrator

 

The Mountain Sky Conference of The United Methodist Church is seeking a District Administrator to provide high-level administrative support to the District Superintendents of the Montana East, Montana West, and Wyoming Districts. This full-time position plays a vital role in supporting the spiritual and organizational leadership of the Conference by managing reports and data, maintaining records, coordinating meetings and events, and overseeing communication efforts such as newsletters and social media. The District Administrator serves as a key resource for clergy and congregations and supports the work of District Roundtables, the District Superintendents’ missional strategy, and connection among lay and clergy leadership across the Districts.

 

Primary Roles:

  • Provide administrative and clerical support for the District Superintendents.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support, as directed by the District Superintendents, for:
    • The Montana Circuit Leaders.
    • The District Committee on Lay Servant Ministries, including the Director or Co-Directors.
    • The District Lay Leaders or Co-Lay Leaders.
    • The Montana and Wyoming Roundtables, including the District Boards of Church Location and Building and the District Superintendency Committees.
  • Attend the District Roundtables periodic meetings and take minutes.
  • Serve as a primary resource and help with clergy, local church staff, and lay leadership as needed.
  • Coordinate prayer ministry across the Districts, including providing electronic notice of clergy deaths.
  • Manage annual cycles of requesting, collecting and organizing required reports and data, including church end-of-year reports and statistical reports, charge conference documents, clergy assessments, appointment advisory forms, clergy compensation forms, and Change of Appointment (COA) forms.
  • Compile and update an ongoing report of statistics and other data for all local churches across the Districts.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate information in the Conference database on clergy, candidates for ministry, lay servants and lay ministers, churches, and lay leadership within the Districts.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate digital clergy files within the districts.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for projects such as church conferences, District/Sub-District meetings, District Gatherings in the Districts and at the Annual Conference Session, and other District/Sub-District activities.
  • Coordinate matters with the Conference office.
  • Maintain accurate and timely information on Districts social media platforms and the Districts webpage(s).
  • Attend Annual Conference Sessions and District Gatherings in person.
  • Co-create, manage, and distribute digital resources for our District churches as needed, including a regular Newsletter for the Districts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum two years of moderate to high level administrative work experience is required.
  • Experience using database software, including data entry and reporting is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized and efficient at handling projects simultaneously.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, Adobe products, social media platforms, video conferencing tools, and various livestreaming platforms.
  • Excellent customer service skills.  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Must maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
  • Collaborative and solution oriented.
  • Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn The United Methodist Church organizational structure as it pertains to districts and clergy relationships.

Additional Considerations:

  • $21.00 - $23.00 per hour.
  • Must reside within the geographic boundaries of the Montana or Wyoming Districts.
