Director of Connectional Ministries

 

The Wisconsin Conference of The United Methodist Church is seeking a Director of Connectional Ministries to lead and coordinate the Conference’s leadership and programmatic ministries. This role provides oversight and strategic direction for Mission Ministries, Camp and Retreat Ministries, Age-Level Ministries, and Board and Agency Ministries, ensuring these areas are effectively connected to the broader work and vision of the Wisconsin Annual Conference. The Director serves as the steward of the Conference’s vision and is responsible for equipping present and future leaders to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides visionary and collaborative leadership in alignment with the most currently approved Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church, in partnership with the Bishop, Cabinet, and conference leadership to steward the conference’s vision, lead transformation efforts, align resources, and strengthen connections across local, district, annual conference, and general church ministries.
  • Provides leadership and management for Connectional Ministries staff, including Camp and Retreat Ministries Site Directors and the Administrative Assistant.
  • Collaborates with conference and general church leadership to strengthen connections within the conference’s departmental structure, including the Cabinet, Communications, Finance and Administration, Global Ministries, and Archives and History.
  • Actively serves with the Cabinet during Cabinet meetings.
  • Responsible for refining the conference committee structure and expanding the role of the Connectional Table by cultivating diverse leadership to serve on committees, oversee outreach ministry programs, and support the planning and execution of the Annual Conference.
  • Develop ways to expand the conference ministries effectively while maintaining a high-quality experience for those being served.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Clergy status or United Methodist Church background is helpful.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in supervising staff and developing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management and fundraising.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Current knowledge or willingness to learn the polity and theology of The United Methodist Church is helpful.
