Holland Hall was established in 1922 and currently serves approximately 1,000 preK through 12th grade students in a coeducational setting. POSITION SUMMARY
 
Holland Hall’s Marketing and Communication Department is responsible for developing and implementing all of the early preK-12th grade independent school’s communication, advertising, and marketing strategies. The strategies are centered around the school’s mission, and its multi-year strategic plan.

A PreK-12 Episcopal school, we seek to foster in each student a strong moral foundation and a deep sense of social responsibility.
 
The primary goals for this position are to maintain the Holland Hall website and its online Parent and Faculty portals; write and edit for the website, email newsletters, and publications; collect invoices, create purchase orders, and track spending for the office and for the DutchZone, the school’s spirit store; light graphic design work, as needed; and assisting with PR and marketing needs as they arise.
 
The position reports to the Director of Communications and Marketing. This position requires frequent contact with employees at all levels of the organization, students, and parents. Some after hours and weekend work will be required. This is not a teaching position and will follow a 12-month work schedule.
 
JOB DUTIES

  • Web Maintenance: Generate ideas, write content, and edit text and photos for the school’s website and its user portals. Keep downloads and files up-to-date for the school year; format and post job descriptions; maintain news sections; troubleshoot website issues.
  • Web analytics: Stay abreast of current trends and optimization tools for the website and generate reports. Work to continuously improve reach and SEO.
  • Social media: Help manage the school’s social media accounts with timely, engaging content.
  • Clerical and data management: This position is responsible for creating purchase orders, managing invoices, and maintaining spreadsheets related to the Mar/Comm office, as well as the school’s spirit store.
  • E-Newsletter and Email: Edit the weekly newsletter, the Dutch Weekly, and other official school emails; keep email queries in our content management system (PCR) up-to-date
  • Marquee and photo monitors: Post upcoming events and information on the marquee sign; manage and keep branch information monitors timely and engaging
  • Photography: Assist in taking photos at pertinent events on campus
  • Writing/Editing: Write or edit copy for the annual magazine, news section of the website, and any publications that come up in a year. 
  • Graphic design: Assist in design and production of materials needed on campus.
  • Dutch Zone: Assist in the running of the school’s spirit store.

Qualifications

     

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

  • REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in related field

 
MINIMUM PREVIOUS RELATED EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

  • Experience with basic coding, website content management systems (CMS), Google systems, Excel, Adobe programs including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator

 
EXPECTATIONS / REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE

  • Must be able to work as part of a team, take written and oral direction, and operate independently
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals across campus while demonstrating tact and diplomacy
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and have the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

 
WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work day from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with 30-minute lunch break
  • Activities include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual activity; the work is performed primarily indoors
  • Generally works in standard office conditions and climate
  • Work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
