ABOUT THE ROLE:

The EHS Coordinator will work closely with the Safety Manager to develop, implement, and oversee Capitol’s environmental health and safety programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state and location safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices. The EHS Coordinator plays a critical role in conductions regular safety audits and inspections across all facilities. The EHS Coordinator will collaborate with the Safety Manager to customize safety programs to address specific targeted safety training programs, increasing awareness of best practices.

Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to develop, assign, and track required safety training for employees.
  • Monitor EHS program effectiveness, identify safety concerns, and implement necessary improvements.
  • Serve as a key member of the Safety Team, coordinating responses to workplace safety and environmental health incidents and investigations.
  • Assess workplace hazards and risks and recommend appropriate measures to mitigate them.
  • Key member of the safety committee.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in safety-related role, internship acceptable experience.
  • Familiar with OSHA standards, Cal/OSHA and other relevant safety regulations
  • Well-versed in creating emergency responses plans tailored to various scenarios.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Preferred bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Preferred familiarity with food safety environment

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Familiarity with food safety environment
  • OSHA 30 certified
  • Knowledge of CPR and first-aid techniques
  • A valid California driver license
