Position Summary:

The Tight Ends Graduate Assistant (GA) will assist the offensive coaching staff with the development of the tight end position group and support all aspects of the football program, including practice planning, game preparation, recruiting, and film evaluation. This role is designed to provide meaningful coaching experience for individuals pursuing a career in collegiate football. The ideal candidate will have experience playing or coaching the tight end position or other offensive roles.


Primary Responsibilities:

Coaching & Player Development:

• Assist with the instruction and development of the tight ends.
• Conduct individual and group drills, positional meetings, and film breakdowns.
• Support the Offensive Coordinator in weekly game planning, opponent breakdowns, and scout team organization.
• Evaluate practice and game film, contributing to weekly performance reviews.

Recruiting Support:

• Assist with film evaluation and recruit data entry into the recruiting database (ARMS or similar).
• Help coordinate recruiting visit logistics and on-campus events.
• Communicate with high school coaches and prospective student-athletes within NCAA guidelines.

Practice & Game Day Operations:

• Assist with practice setup, script management, and post-practice breakdown.
• Organize and manage tight end personnel for practice and games.
• Provide sideline or box support during games as assigned.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Mobility – Ability to demonstrate football techniques, run drills, and be physically active on the field for extended periods (up to 2+ hours). Must be able to lift, carry, and move football equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Hearing – Ability to hear and respond to whistle commands, player communication, and coach-to-coach conversations in loud environments (practice fields, weight room, game day).
  • Vision – Sufficient vision to drive, operate film and video systems, and evaluate play execution on the field and on screen.
  • Communication – Ability to clearly communicate instructions and feedback to players and staff during high-intensity and fast-paced situations.
  • Cognitive/Emotional – Capacity to concentrate for long periods, process game strategy, manage in-game adjustments, and maintain emotional composure in high-stress environments.

Compensation:

• Tuition for approved graduate program
• No housing or meals included

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; admission to a North Greenville University graduate program is required for employment.
• Playing or coaching experience with tight ends or an offensive skill position is preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Familiarity with HUDL, Microsoft Excel, and video editing software (e.g., DV Sport, XOS, or similar) is preferred.
• Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
• Must support and live out NGU’s mission and core values.
