Position Summary: The Director of Hospitality is responsible for planning, coordination and management of university events designed for donors, prospective donors and special campus guests. The director works with the Director of Donor Services to provide consistent hospitality activities related to institutional initiatives. The director also provides organizational, and administrative support to the Vice President for Advancement and University Engagement (VPAUE).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In close coordination with the Director of Donor Services and the President’s Office, develop hospitality strategy for various advancement and university engagement events, including:
    • Assist in hosting donor and prospective donor events at The Sullivan President’s Box and George Bomar Family Stadium hospitality suite
    • Donor Recognition banquet and special receptions/events throughout the year
    • Auxilio meetings and special events
    • Christian Ministry Scholarship Fund dinners and special events
    • Board of Trustees special events and luncheons
    • Special events for university’s discipline-specific advisory boards
    • Celebration/dedication events for university capital projects
  • Assist with and, at times, manage all aspects of event planning, including, but not limited to:
    • interface with venues and suppliers
    • venue research, selection, and contracting
    • run of show development, and programming and event scheduling
    • development of invitations, communication, gifting
    • event logistics (room layouts, audio visual, food and beverage, decor, signage, etc.)
    • budget development, management, and reconciliation
  • Work with campus offices on opportunities to enhance campus wide hospitality through specific activities, signage, etc.
  • Welcome and serve guests to the AUE offices and suite
  • Work with Director of Advancement Services to process gift batches and gift acknowledgment, providing backup for the director
  • Assist with development of advancement reports and funding proposals.
  • Process departmental expenses and manage the departmental budget
  • Manage the AUE office filing system, both hardcopy and digital
  • Coordinate VPAUE calendar and coordinate AUE staff meetings
  • Provide oversight for maintaining all aspects of the university’s two guest cabins, working in conjunction with the president’s administrative assistant to coordinate and enhance consistent visitor experiences in the cabins.

 Physical Requirements

  • Hearing: hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, vendors, and students.
  • Dexterity: grasping, feeling, writing, typing, and using the telephone, copier, and computer systems.
  • Mobility: open files and operate office machines; move between departments and attend meetings across campus.
  • Talking: frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Lifting, pulling, pushing: exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Cognitive/Emotional: ability to critically think and concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in conditions  75 to 100% of the time.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

This position is a full-time, exempt position in North Greenville’s Advancement and University Engagement Office, located at the main campus in Tigerville, SC. The Director of Hospitality reports to the Vice President for Advancement and University Engagement.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-Noon. Work with evening or early morning events may be required.

TRAVEL

This position does not require travel. However, the Director of Hospitality may be invited to attend events in the local area or nationally for training or information purposes. In such instances, participation would be voluntary.

Qualifications

  • Supports NGU’s mission, core values, and commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with biblical models.
  • Active in a biblically faithful evangelical church, preferably one affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
  • Awareness of and appreciation for the work of the Southern Baptist Convention and Baptist state conventions.
  • Affirm an understanding of the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
  • Affirm understanding of the University’s Statement on Human Flourishing.
  • Agree to abide by the employee handbooks, including community standards agreements.
  • Self-motivated and self-starting.
  • Possesses excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in hospitality for special guests.
  • Holds earned bachelor’s degree from accredited institution.
  • Committed to the highest standards of personal and professional integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office program.
