Qualifications and Experience
Education and/or Experience
- A health- and fitness-focused undergraduate degree with a concentration or coursework in exercise physiology or kinesiology preferred.
- Two years or more of experience as a personal trainer at a fitness franchise or private club.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Knowledge of fitness equipment required.
- Able to perform fitness assessments and apply rehabilitation techniques.
- Must have First Aid and CPR/AED training.
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Certification from a recognized and accredited programs such as that offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) preferred. CSCS, NSCA-CPT, ACSM-CPT, ACSM-EP preferred.
- First Aid and CPR/AED certification
Working conditions
Must often work in a noisy environment.
Physical requirements
- Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach, walk, stand, stoop, climb stairs, balance and/or crouch.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- Physical exertion over long periods of time.
- Regular fitness conditioning.
