Job Summary

Prepare and serve alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages to guests, courteously, enthusiastically, and efficiently according to established specifications.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in unloading truck(s) at event location as requested by the Event Manager. Unloading may include (but not limited to) glassware, service ware, linen, ovens/stoves, cambros (food carrier), tables, chairs.
  • Set up bar area at event location to the EBC Bar Standard Guide
  • Have a working knowledge of difference service styles. (tableside, tray pass, open bar, etc)
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, wines (Napa, Sonoma), beers and non-alcoholic selections available.
  • Create and execute craft and specialty cocktails including garnishes and mixes.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving. Exercise good judgment in determining potentially intoxicated and/or under aged guests.
  • Ensure maximum utilization of supplies to prevent waste.
  • Anticipate and communicate replenishment needs promptly, ensuring no shortages throughout the event.
  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge guests even when busy.
  • Stay well organized and think clearly when preparing drinks and providing service to guests.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; using only as intended.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of bar top, tables, service areas.
  • Assist in loading truck(s) at the direction of the truck driver as requested by the Event Manager. Loading may include (but not limited to) glassware, service ware, linen, ovens/stoves, cambros (food carrier), tables, chairs.
  • Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.

Manages and delegates tasks to Wine Servers.

Qualifications

Skill and Qualifications

Essential:
Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
3 year experience as a bartender or bar back.
Ability to communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
Desirable:
High school graduate or equivalent and some college.
Certification in alcohol awareness program & training in liquor, wine and food service.
(e.g. TIPS program - Training for Intervention Procedures & CARE program - Control Alcohol Risks Effectively)
Customer service training.
Ability to communicate in a language other than English, preferably Spanish.
Valid drivers license.

Travel Requirements

Work sites or event locations vary within the greater bay area. Our normal work areas include Napa, Solano, Marin and Sonoma Counties.
