ABOUT THE JOB

Summer Camp Counselors are the single most important presence at our Griffin Club Camp! Each counselor carries with them an opportunity to have the greatest potential impact on each camper’s summer while at our Camp. Counselors stay with the same set of campers throughout the week and create fun and excitement for each camper within their group. Each week brings new faces to your group where you’ll have the opportunity to bond with your campers and create memories that last a lifetime! This role is seasonal Part Time, with shifts spanning 5 days a week Monday – Sunday. Weekend shifts are scheduled on a rotational to cover our Summer Kids Korner program. Weekend shifts can be requested to work upon interviewing.

Qualifications

YOU WILL

· Be a part of a team and help lead up to 25 - 30 campers each week and assist other counselors as campers rotate through High Octane Activities, Low Org Games, Swim Time, and Art & Crafts here at the club.

· Pick an age group you would like to work with for the Summer! Seahorses Ages 3-5, Dolphins Ages 6-7, Orcas Ages 8+.

· Ratios for camp groups remain low:

o 1:10 for Dolphins & Orcas.

o 1:6 for Seahorses.

· Assist with daily set-up and cleanup of camp and assist other Counselors with lesson preparation for the week.

· Provide excellent customer service to families and guardians daily.

· Maintain a safe environment and provide leadership and camp spirit to all campers throughout the Summer including potential field trip locations.

· Contribute and participate in daily camp activities, including camper check-in or check-out, opening/closing ceremonies, snack & lunch & extended care supervision and other programming opportunities while at camp.

· Counselors will report to the Activities Supervisor & Club Activities Manager and receive professional development and ongoing coaching throughout the Summer.

 

YOU HAVE

· Upper high school or college student/ teacher or afterschool aid looking for summer work.

· Experience in after-school programs or leading programs for kids.

· Genuine enthusiasm and interest in working with children.

· Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy, and exceptional enthusiasm each day of camp.

· Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks efficiently.

· Ability to work collaboratively with a team, with openness to feedback and a desire to grow professionally.

· Strong organization skills and attention to detail

· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

 

COMPENSATION AND PERKS

· Compensation for these positions starts at $18.00 per hour and ranges to $19.50 per hour.

· Summer staff positions are hourly, non-exempt roles.

· Paid Training prior to the start of camp.

· End of year Summer Camp Bonus

WORK HOURS

Our camp operates between 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

· Opener Shift: 8:30am – 2:15pm

· Mid Shift: 8:45am – 3:15pm

· Breaker Shift: 9:30am – 3:15pm

· Extended Care Shift: 11:30am – 5:15pm

Kids Korner Shifts 7:55am to 1:00pm & 3:55pm to 8:30pm, Friday through Sunday.

Dates that you must be Available: (June 16th – August 8th)

· No Camp will be held on 4th of July, but counselors will be scheduled to work the Clubs Event.

· Other shifts may be assigned and able to be picked up by Summer Camp staff within the Activities Dept.

· Camp Encore will run from August 11th – August 29th for any counselor that would like to stay on for additional weeks of camp. (These dates are not required)

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Some lifting and carrying up to 60 lbs.

· Typing, writing, reading.

· Seeing, hearing, and speaking, both nearby and at a distance.

· Use hand and fingers to help with classroom supplies and operate equipment.

· Standing, walking, kneeling
