AT A GLANCE
Broad River Retail is looking for a motivated Communications Intern to support our internal communications efforts and help build a stronger, more connected company culture. This role will focus on producing and managing our internal newsletter, updating intranet content, and telling the stories of our teams—especially those in retail and other underrepresented groups. The position starts as part-time with the potential to grow into a full-time communications role within 12 months based on demonstrated impact and business needs.
DAY IN THE LIFE AS THIS MEMORY MAKER:
- Newsletter Support
- Assist in sourcing, writing, and editing content for the internal newsletter, ensuring timely and engaging communication to employees.
- Track newsletter performance metrics (open rates, click-throughs) and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather stories, announcements, and updates.
- Intranet & SharePoint Content Management
- Update and organize intranet content to improve usability and employee engagement.
- Work with IT and other stakeholders to support intranet improvements.
- Internal Storytelling & Engagement
- Identify and develop stories highlighting Memory Makers, aligning to our purpose, mission, vision, and core values
- Support internal campaigns, and events by creating communications materials and follow-up content.
- Assist with internal communication efforts related to planning, promoting, and recapping company-wide town halls.
- Support communication efforts tied to community outreach and volunteer initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner cross-departmentally to ensure consistent messaging and alignment on internal communications initiatives.
- Support the Sr. Communications Manager in special projects as needed.
- Professional Development & Growth
- Develop skills in writing, editing, project management, and basic video editing.
- Take initiative in proposing new ideas and improvements to internal communications processes.
- Prepare for a potential transition to full-time by demonstrating impact and leadership in the role.
