Girl Scouts River Valleys is seeking a Director of Property to provide effective property management leadership, strategic planning and execution for Girl Scouts River Valleys properties (offices, shops and camps), including reservations, facility management and securing leased/non-owned office locations.  This includes leasing cookie warehouses, managing staffing and operations of cookie warehouses. Responsible to ensure that all properties (leased and owned) operate in accordance with Girl Scouts River Valleys goals and mission. Responsible for financial performance of property management functions, from development of operating and capital budgets to execution while ensuring maximum return on investment.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the planning, development and execution of property management and development initiatives, ensuring compliance with council, GSUSA, ACA, federal, state, and local guidelines and making maximum use of council-owned service centers, rental locations and camps. 

  • Develop and implement short- and long-term strategy for property operations and capital improvements. 

  • Develop and manage execution multimillion dollar budgets and corresponding resource allocation for property management at all Council properties. 

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of property management and development along with the competency to serve as the "expert" on GSRV property and asset related matters, including insurance coverage. 

  • Lead a team of Property Managers and Specialists in providing high quality facilities and program amenities that retain existing members and attract new Girl Scouts. This includes recruiting, training, development, and performance management of all Property staff. 

  • Lead the property teams work supporting the cookie warehouse operations. Includes the securing of cookie warehouses, collaboration with the product program team to deliver excellent customer service to members that secure product at the warehouse to meet their cookie program goals. 

  • Manage reservation department at GSRV and provide leadership and guidance to maintain and elevate service level in support of membership usage of Council properties. This includes financial analysis and recommendations for rental fee structure changes as needed. 

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors, external contacts, and internal team members. 

  • Develop positive rapport with volunteers/members that are frequent users of Properties. 

  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the council. Actively participate in All Staff meetings, staff in-service training, and other meetings. 

  • Support the council’s commitment to diversity of girls, volunteers, and staff and conduct all activities with a high degree of cultural competency. 

  • Contribute to building a cohesive, flexible, and productive staff environment that demonstrates the values and mission of Girl Scouts and delivers high-quality customer service.  

  • Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement  

  • Become a registered member of GSUSA. 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, could include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 7 plus years progressively responsible experience in property management, or equivalent education and experience. 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience in senior management role.  

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of property and facilities management and operational logistics.
  • Using effective leadership skills and abilities, foster high performance and standards for performance in accordance with GSRV values and mission.
  • Fiscal management, customer service and effective communication skills are required.
  • Creative problem solving/negotiation skills and ability to motivate a wide range of staff.
  • Self-starter, works independently with minimal oversight, takes initiative; flexible, adaptable, organized and demonstrates strong attention to detail.
  • Thrives in an environment that can experience massive change in direction on short notice.
  • Excellent judgement, independent decision-making skills, and strong resourcefulness.
  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
  • Advanced skills in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Technology aptitude that supports innovation and drives the Property division to leverage technology to streamline and improve Council operations.

  • Physical ability to frequently stop, kneel, bend, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull, lift, and move objects up to 25 pounds.

  • See and read printed materials, with or without visual aids; distinguish colors; read and understand rules and policies, labels and instructions.
  • Verbal communication including the ability to speak and hear at normal room levels.
