Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean of Libraries, the Part-Time Public Services Assistant assists with the performance of weekend and night operations for the Hattiesburg campus library.

- Oversees weekend and evening library operations, providing typical library public service and circulation assistance at all I.E. Rouse Library points of service, including but not limited to, checking books out and in, locating and shelving books, and helping students navigate the Library website.
- Opens and closes the Library to the public according to its schedule of operations.
- Assists with preparing books for cataloging, such as applying protective covers, stamps, and security strips.
- Assists with the collection and maintenance of library usage statistics as needed.
- Assists with the supervision of Hattiesburg library student employees.
- Collects money for such things as fines, fees, lost books, and copies.
- Monitors use of the library photocopier and printers.
- Performs other duties and tasks as needed to ensure normal operation of the library.
- This employee is required to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.Â
