POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Assistant provides essential support to clinical staff and patients in a clinical setting. This role involves assisting with patient care, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience, and supporting nurses in various clinical tasks.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform routine pre-examination procedures including taking vital signs.
• Collect basic medical history from patients and document any relevant health information.
• Assist physician / APP with examinations and procedures.
• Prepare and clean the patient area: set up equipment, clean and facilitate room set up after a procedure.
• Perform patient care measures as requested by provider.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and co-workers.
• Maintain and ensure confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Maintain a system for accurately recording and reporting patient conditions in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Follow providers’ directive regarding communication to patients (i.e. test results, recommendations, etc.).
• Follow all SMH RHC policies and procedures.
• Attend required meetings/trainings and participate in committees as required.
• Demonstrate appropriateness in meeting objectives in age-specifics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

High school graduate or equivalent.

Previous nursing assistant or EMT preferred.

Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

Knowledge and relevant experience in a medical office setting.

Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Must obtain Medical Assistant Certification within one year of hire. Training will be provided.

BLS certification.
