Job Summary

The Data Strategy Specialist supports the implementation of data strategies that allow Covenant House New York to maintain a high level of data quality and efficient data processes. The Program Compliance and Performance Measurement team’s work encompasses compliance, program evaluation, quality improvement and organizational learning functions.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with program staff to develop user-friendly data collection tools in our Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database based on programmatic and/or reporting needs.
  • Assists with the overall management of Covenant House New York’s ETO system, including adding programs, maintaining programs, and creating program dashboards.
  • Monitors data implementation plans and adjusts protocols and systems as needed to ensure data is accurate, understandable, and helpful to programs.
  • Develops and maintains well-designed data reports that staff at all levels of the organization can understand and utilize, as well as trains staff to use reporting tools.
  • Develops and maintains documentation of data collection, management, and integration processes and protocols for all CHNY databases, including ETO, PTS, ECW, TIMS, Single Stop, TMS, and HMIS.
  • Assists in the implementation of evidence-based and proven social service models and ensures that data-related components of these models are implemented.
  • Responds to internal requests for data in a timely way and resolves data quality issues across internal and external data systems.
  • Manages DYCD’s PTS database, maintaining accurate data within the system and ensuring proper use by staff.
  • Provides technical assistance and support to program staff, as needed, on program-based data entry and management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Data Systems.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of ETO preferred.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical abilities required.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets, are required. Understanding of Pivot Tables preferred.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills required. Able to communicate technical and mathematical ideas clearly to people of all career backgrounds.
  • This position requires working weekends and some holidays to ensure the timely submission of reports.
