Earlham College is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management to join our team!

 

 

Summary: 

 

Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVP) provides strategic and tactical leadership for the Office of Admissions. The AVP will lead the recruitment efforts for all first-year and transfer students, in addition to the day-to-day operations of the office. The AVP plays an essential role in meeting the enrollment and net revenue goals of Earlham College by collaborating with other key departments, including Athletics, Marketing and Communications, Financial Aid, Academics, Student Life, and our EPIC Centers. The AVP is a key member of a collaborative enrollment leadership team charged with recruiting, enrolling, and retaining varied cohorts of high achieving students. The AVP will be responsible for developing and advancing strategies that foster a culture of inclusion and belonging at Earlham College. The AVP should have a growth mindset, bringing innovative approaches to recruitment, marketing, and financial aid initiatives to increase overall enrollment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the Admissions team with a student-centered approach to recruitment. Manage the day-to-day operations of the office, directly supervise the Director of International Admissions and Alumni Recruitment, Director of Admissions Operations, all Admission Counselors, and the Assistant Director for Campus Visit Programs.
  • Assist the VP in developing and executing a strategic enrollment plan that supports key objectives, including net tuition revenue, total headcount, and broader engagement with the Earlham community.
  • Lead initiatives to expand access for prospective students by leveraging articulation agreements, building partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs), and fostering an inclusive recruitment approach.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within the office. Create, analyze, and use reports that will guide all student recruitment programs and initiatives.
  • Manage the application review process to ensure fairness, transparency, and accessibility for all applicants.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Communications on a comprehensive and strategic marketing plan and communication flow for prospective students and families.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Aid Office on leveraging institutional aid to optimize net tuition revenue and on developing strategies to help families better understand their awards.
  • Work closely with external partners to ensure prospect, inquiry, and application generation activities are meeting goals.
  • Serve as the Admissions/Athletics liaison.
  • Oversee all recruitment travel for the Admissions team.
  • Help manage Admissions office budget in consultation with Vice President for Enrollment.
  • Oversee all recruitment- and admission-related campus events.
  • Represent the college in a professional manner as a member of internal and external committees and professional organizations at local, regional, and national events, programs, and panels.

Qualifications

  • A bachelors degree is required.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in admissions and/or college advising, with increasing responsibility.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; outstanding listener with great interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial aid leveraging, inquiry generation, and yield strategies.
  • Knowledge of enrollment-related technology (Slate preferred) and best practices related to managing data.
  • Knowledgeable in and have the ability to analyze regional, national, and international market trends and academic program demands.
  • An appreciation for collaboration, consensus building, and the liberal arts, which are highly valued on Earlham’s campus.
  • An appreciation for NCAA Division III athletics and the valuable contributions student-athletes make to Earlham’s campus culture.
  • Travel, as well as evening and weekend responsibilities, are expected.
