JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for managing all activities and duties of the product engineering department. Distributes workload, establishes goals, and monitors employees performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)
- Manages the daily work and progress of the Product Engineering department, serves as the product engineering expert, and will work as product engineer on some customer products.
- Responsible for monitoring Product Engineers work including customers Bills of Materials, approves vendor lists, product specifications, and special requirements into the Keytronic MRP.
- Oversees all product changes requests for customer and Keytronic, and documents changes in MRP.
- Overseeing engineering process change control, maintaining RoHS, ROHS2 and Reach certification documentation for all RoHS required piece parts.
- Provide support to program management and sales in solving product performance and product structure issues. Answers technical questions from the customer.
- Provides leadership, direction, and support to the department, and responsible for adhering to all Corporate Policies and Procedures.
- Manages department staffing in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. This includes staff forecasting, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ensures compliance and provides an environment that supports our Corporate Affirmative Action Plan and Equal Employment Opportunity laws.
- Tracks and manages the minimization of stranded materials and inventory due to engineering changes to the product structure.
- Process ownership: demonstrated leadership in the assigned group of processes.
- Engineering project management: develops and leads a continuous improvement engineering project.
- Manage schedule, budget and specifics on a major engineering project.
- Training: supports the development of product engineers (remote sites).
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Interface with customers as required and all other departments in the US sites, Mecixo, China, and Vietnam.
- Attends meetings as needed to support organization activity.
- Interfaces with customers as required.
- Performs other duties, as assigned, to achieve corporate and departmental objectives that are outside of normal job duties.
